So here’s what went down after you logged off.

What gives jalapenos their kick? Fungus. Yum.

Robots with skin? Japanese scientists have developed a stretchy, rubber covering for robots that allows them to detect heat and pressure.

Elephants never forget – really. A new study has shown that herd matriarchs have exceptional memory for distant sources of food and water which can be the key to their herd’s survival.

Just one restaurant can produce 490 tons of CO2 every year – and there are 940,000 of them just in the US. So, how do you feel about “green cuisine?”

Have you been following the “case of the missing viper” at Moody Gardens? It sounds like something out of Encyclopedia Brown, but It’s escaped for real - twice. And now, investigators are pulling out the polygraph.

Inspired by the grasshopper, researchers have built a new robot that can jump 27 times its own height. That’s a world record.

So here’s what went down after you logged off.

“Yeah – I can fly.” Apparently, Iron Man lives in the Swiss Alps.

Polar bears are now a protected species - sort of.

Nothing can escape from black holes – except certain kinds of information.

Speaking of disturbing galactic phenomena – they may be a giant hole in the cosmos. Or maybe not, we can’t really be sure.

NASA didn’t find aliens – but they did find something really cool.

Today, the symphony, tomorrow – the world! A robot took over conducting Detroit’s Symphony.

National Geographic has video of the rare Dead Sea Scroll frgament that was shown only briefly in Jerusalem recently.

So here’s what went down since you logged off.

They’re probably going to need some fungi: prospectors are going wild for uranium all along the Grand Canyon. (Via)

But hopefully not chrytid fungi - it’s destroying frog populations worldwide. Scientists are studying amphibians in Madagascar to try and save them.

Sometimes, it pays to be dumb: ironically, scientists prove that smarter isn’t necessarily better, when it comes to survival.

We don’t even have robot maids yet – but scientists at Duke University have taken the first steps towards creating autonomous robot surgeons.
