Wednesday, February 19

CLASS – DIY IRL: BUTTERFLY PINNING AND SHADOW BOX MAKING

6:00 PM · LOWER LEVEL CLASSROOMS

Our very own entomologist and Director of the Cockrell Butterfly Center, Erin Mills will walk you through basic techniques of collecting, identifying, relaxing, pinning and mounting butterflies. Supplies and Insects for pinning and mounting will be provided.

CLASS – SPACE OUT! MISSION TO THE MOON

6:00 PM · EXPEDITION CENTER

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is simple. As either a member of mission control or a crew member aboard the Space Station Observer, the fate of this flight is in your hands. Participate in real astronaut training as a team in this special opportunity.

CLASS – FANTASTICAL BEASTS: IN COLD BLOOD

6:00 PM · MORAN CONFERENCE HALL

Take a closer look at the cold blooded reptiles and amphibians around us have evolved from prehistoric times to the present day. This experience will also include time spent in both the Texas and African halls of wildlife.

CLASS – CSI HOUSTON: FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGY

CSI Houston gives you the chance to try your hand at forensic anthropology. Learn how science is aiding law enforcement by determining the sex and ancestry of an individual with a hands-on skull examination.

BEHIND THE SCENES – SLEUTHS & SECRETS MYSTERY NIGHT

Grab your most trusted group of detectives and band together to untangle the web of clues hidden within the Cabinet of Curiosities in this mysterious night of riddles unfolds.

MIXERS & ELIXIRS: MARDI GRAS

“Laissez les bons temps rouler!” The saints are marching in for our 2020 Mixers & Elixirs season, kicking it off with a Mardi Gras theme. Enjoy a night of live music from Satellite, dancing, cash bars and Houston’s best food trucks.

EXHIBIT OPENS – STATE OF WATER: OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE

So many of us take for granted how water reaches our daily lives. Witness the beauty, design and architecture of water system’s inner workings across the country as seen through the eyes of photographer Brad Temkin.

CLASS – CSI HOUSTON: FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGY

9:30 AM · LOWER LEVEL CLASSROOMS

CSI Houston gives you the chance to try your hand at forensic anthropology. Learn how science is aiding law enforcement by determining the sex and ancestry of an individual with a hands-on skull examination.

CLASS – ORGANICALLY DELICIOUS: BASIC FRUIT TREE CARE AND PLANTING

9:30 AM · MORAN CONFERENCE HALL

Learn the temperate fruit trees, citrus, and the semi-tropical varieties that are appropriate for the Greater Houston area and how to properly care for them. Attendees will receive a calendar for fruit tree care-pruning, pest control, harvesting and fertilization.
